Aged Care Reform - What it means for Yaandina

Australia’s aged care system has changed with the introduction of the Aged Care Act 2024, placing older people’s rights, safety, and wellbeing at the centre of care.
Yaandina is now a registered aged care provider under the new Act, approved to deliver a wide range of services including residential care, home support, nursing, and community-based programs.
We’re proud to continue supporting older people to live well, stay connected, and receive the care they need—right here in the Pilbara.

Residential Aged Care

Yaandina Aged Care provides safe, comfortable, and culturally connected residential care for older people in Roebourne. Our facility offers 30 beds, including high-dependency support, allowing residents to age in place close to family and community.

Under the Aged Care Act 2024, all residential aged care services must be accredited by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission—the national regulator responsible for ensuring care is safe, high-quality, and aligned with the rights of older people.

Yaandina was reaccredited in May 2024 for a further three-year period, having met all 42 Quality Standards requirements during our site audit. This reflects our strong governance, commitment to continuous improvement, and positive feedback from residents and families.

Residential aged care includes:

  • 24/7 personal and clinical care
  • Nutritious meals prepared onsite
  • Social and lifestyle activities
  • Support for cultural and spiritual wellbeing
  • Respite care options for families

We’re proud to offer care that supports dignity, choice, and connection—right here in the Pilbara.

CHSP (Commonwealth Home Support Program)

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)—formerly known as HACC—provides entry-level support to help older people, people with a disability, and their carers continue living independently at home.

Yaandina delivers CHSP services that include:

  • Help with daily tasks like cleaning, shopping, and personal care
  • Transport and social support
  • Meals and home maintenance

CHSP is now being aligned with the new Support at Home program under the Aged Care Act 2024, which will eventually streamline how home care is delivered.

In the meantime, CHSP continues to offer flexible, practical support for those who need just a little help to stay safe and well at home.

Support at Home Services

At Yaandina, we know that staying in your own home, surrounded by familiar people and places, is important. That’s why our Support at Home services are designed to help older people live safely and independently, with care that suits their lifestyle.

Support at Home is part of the new aged care system under the Aged Care Act 2024, replacing older programs like Home Care Packages. It offers flexible, tailored support based on each person’s needs—whether that’s a little help or more regular care.

Our services can include:

  • Help with showering, dressing, and personal care
  • Cleaning, shopping, and meal preparation
  • Transport to appointments or social outings
  • Nursing
  • Coordination of Home modifications and equipment

We work with each person to build a care plan that fits their goals, culture, and community. All services are delivered by our local team who understand the Pilbara and the people who live here.

To access Support at Home, you’ll need to register with My Aged Care and complete an assessment as detailed above.

We’re happy to help guide you through the process.
